The senior social worker provides psychosocial interventions and case management to the population served in the CBOC. They work closely with the primary care and specialty medical and mental Health practitioners to provide needed services to the veterans served in the CBOC. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Performs specialized treatment of complex medical or mental illness.
Incumbent incorporates complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment of veteran patients, including making psychosocial and psychiatric diagnoses within approved clinical privileges or scope of practice. Is able to provide individual, group, and family psychotherapy and advanced level case management interventions used in the treatment of veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder, and other serious mental health disorders.
Practices in specialty areas, utilizing outcome evaluations to improve treatment services. Incumbent is able to demonstrate the ability to design changes based on empirical findings Offers consultation to colleagues and students on the psychosocial treatment of patients treated in specialty areas, rendering professional opinions based on experience and expertise and role modeling effective social work practice skills.
Demonstrates the ability to teach and mentor staff and students in the specialized area of practice and provide supervision for licensure. Meets the needs of customers while supporting VA missions. Consistently communicates and treats customers (veterans, their representatives, visitors, and all VA staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner. Provides the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures.
Handles conflict and problems in dealing with the consumer constructively and appropriately. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm(Note: Work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor. The incumbent may be required to work various shifts on a permanent or temporary basis based on facility/patient care needs).
