This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, USCG, Yard, Industrial Department, Structural Group in Baltimore, MD.
You will assist journeymen Boat Joiners and Sheetmetal Mechanics with work that cannot be handled alone and also performs less difficult tasks alone. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
Typical work assignments include: * Using power and hand tools common to the trades for working on less difficult tasks such as preparing and finishing surfaces by grinding, sealing and sanding decks, and deck coverings; repairing, installing various types of terrazzo, epoxy, etc. * Installing and removing protecting coverings where needed; installing sheathing; assisting in the fabrication and installation of sheetmetal components. * Assisting in drydocking operations.
Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position.
