Job Summary
The District of Columbia Courts offers internships for students interested in seeking valuable experience in court administration. Interns have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the Court's mission to protect rights and liberties, uphold and interpret the law, and resolve disputes fairly and effectively in the District of Columbia. This unpaid internship is for Fall/Winter 2026.
Key Responsibilities
This position is an unpaid internship working with the Special Operations Division in the Child Care Center. The intern's major duties are below: Assist with the age-appropriate activities that promote early childhood development and learning. Assist the staff with maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for children while the parents/guardians attend to Court business. Assist with facilitating creative play, story time, and interactive games to engage children.
Assist the staff with daily operations of the drop-in center, including setup and transition between activities. Gain hands-on experience in a licensed setting. (This experience can be applied toward fieldwork for ECE/CDA credentialing requirements.) The position is flexible to focus the duties to meet the interests and goals of the intern.
Requirements & Education

Only education or degrees recognized by the U.S. Department of Education from accredited colleges, universities, schools, or institutions may be used to qualify for District of Columbia Courts employment.
