We are seeking an energetic, forward-thinking, Registered Nurses (RN) with outstanding communication skills to serve as the Chief Nurse for our Spinal Cord Injury (SCI).
The Nurse IV, Chief Nurse, Spinal Cord Injury/Disorders provides executive oversight for daily clinical and administrative operations with supervision to SCI Outpatient Clinic, various SCI Nurse Coordinators, CNS/CNL/Nurse Educators for SCI service, and the Nurse Managers for 4 acute care SCI units and 2 long term care units.
Duties: The Chief Nurse reports directly to the Deputy Associate Director, Patient Care/Nursing Services. The Chief Nurse, Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) will provide executive leadership and assumes responsibility for integrated programs that cross service and/or discipline lines and influences organizational mission, vision, values and strategic priorities.
The individual functions as an administrator, educator, and consultant while utilizing change management theory and systems thinking approaches to hard wire high reliability organization principles.
The position of Chief Nurse requires experience that consist of a minimum of four to five years of successful nursing experience in a variety of nursing settings, and a minimum of three years in a supervisory or administrative positions with evidence of progressively more responsible leadership assignments. Plans, organizes, directs, and controls service-wide infrastructure issues, and develops systems to enhance overall operations and communications within the service.
Provides executive leadership, direction, planning, management and administration for complex agency-wide facilities operations including resource planning, staff utilization. Develops and refines processes to meet the needs of the medical center.
Duties listed but not limited to: Executes leadership that is characterized by substantial and continuous responsibility and accountability for population groups or integrated programs that cross service and/or discipline lines, influence organizational mission and health care. The Nurse IV is responsible for administrative functions of their assigned nursing units/programs.
Functions as an administrator, educator, and consultant utilizing management theory in collaboration with Patient Care Service and other services. Must establish and maintain effective relationships with all levels of medical center personnel and relate effectively with customers, families, and the community as well as program and service leaders at the local and network levels.
Key relationships with staff are needed to Assist nurse managers and advanced practice nurses to carry out the functions and activities expected of them. Contribute ideas and recommendations for the establishment of standards of care, policies, and objectives for the enhancement of nursing organization-wide. Assist in policy-making activities as related to customer service and the overall functioning of administrative and clinical programs.
Collaborate with other health care staff to establish and maintain programs that cross service and/or discipline lines and influence organization mission and health care.
