This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. The Clinical Health Psychologist for VACHS/VISN1 Headache Disorders Center of Excellence (HCoE) is in the Mental Health Care Line. The health psychologist in this position will assess and treat headaches using nonpharmacological interventions, such as cognitive behavioral treatment for headaches (CBT-H), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and biofeedback and address other common health-related and mental health co-morbidities such as depression, anxiety, insomnia, stroke, irritable bowel syndrome, epilepsy, hypertension, and substance misuse. Other Duties Listed: Provides a full range of Psychological services to address headache and pain, coping, and associated mental health. Services provided by the Staff Psychologist will include assessment and psychological interventions that incorporate relevant evidence-based practices. Services may be delivered in-person or by telemental health. Provide a full range of other health behavior services for patients who have headache and pain. These services may include treatments for insomnia, stroke, irritable bowel syndrome, epilepsy, and behaviors associated with cardiovascular disease. Refers patients to specialty clinics or other VA or non-VA community care resources when briefer health psychology treatment modalities are insufficient for Veterans with complex and severe mental health and addiction issues. Maintains standards consistent with guidelines from accrediting bodies such as the Joint Commission. Assists with the establishment of program monitors and outcome measurements within programs assigned using a data-driven quality assurance process. Prepares and/or assists in the preparations of RFP's and grant proposals, as assigned. Works with administration and clinical staff to identify and meet VACO, VISN and medical center performance measures.
