Job Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.

Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Key Responsibilities

Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Duties of the Staff Psychologist-Primary Care Mental Health Integration may include, but are not limited to: Provides a full range of psycho-diagnostic services, including assessments and using the most appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques in providing quality care.

Applies principals of population-based care (defines role and identifies problems rapidly) Initial appointments are based on functional assessments and treatment focuses on functional outcomes. Provides brief mental health and behavioral interventions (e.g., 1 - 6 sessions for broad range of concerns). Uses time-limited, evidence based, interventions that are simple and concrete. Uses self-management/home-based practice interventions.

Uses intermittent visit strategy and flexible patient contact strategies. Triages appropriately and efficiently to specialty mental health services. Uses brief measurement-based care routinely. (e.g., PHQ-9, PCL, AUDIT C,etc) Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions including: individual and group therapies. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm, with occasional evening/weekend hours as needed; subject to change based on facility needs.

When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).

Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.

Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.

Requirements & Education

QUALIFICATIONS CONTINUED: Staff Psychologist, GS-13 (Full Performance Level) Experience. At least 2 years of experience, with at least one year equivalent to the GS-12 level, as a professional psychologist that was obtained through employment as a psychologist or through participating in a supervised post-doctoral psychology training program that demonstrates 1) active professional practice that was paid/non-paid employment and 2) a full, current and unrestricted license.

To be creditable, the experience must have required the use of knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics associated with current psychology practice. To receive credit, you must list hours worked per week and demonstrate your experience through job tasks in your resume AND submit a copy of your unexpired licensure. AND Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills and Abilities.

In addition to the experience, the candidates must demonstrate the following KSAs in their resume: Knowledge of, and ability to apply, professional psychological treatments to a full range of patient populations. Ability to provide professional advice and consultation in areas related to professional psychology and behavioral health. Knowledge of clinical research literature.

*Experience is only creditable if it is post-doctoral degree experience as a professional psychologist directly related to the duties performed. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is in the range of GS-11 to GS-13.

Preferred Experience: Experience working in general integrated medical settings and experience working in primary care mental health integration is preferred. Physical Requirements: Physical aspects associated with work required of this assignment are typical for the occupation, see Duties section for essential job duties of the position. May require standing, lifting, carrying, sitting, stooping, bending, puling, and pushing.

May be required to wear personal protective equipment and undergo annual TB screening or testing as conditions of employment. Work Environment: Work is performed in an office/clinic setting with minimal risks that requires normal safety precautions; the area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. However, the work environment requires someone with the ability to handle several tasks at once in sometimes stressful situations. END OF QUALIFICATIONS
