Job Summary

The incumbent will serve in the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic as a member of an interdisciplinary team. The psychologist will consult with medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues.

Major Duties

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. VA Careers - Psychologist: https://youtube.com/embed/77qHlLw9Xck Major duties: Conduct screening, assessment, diagnosis and treatment of mental health disorders with an emphasis on the application of goal-oriented, evidence-based approaches. Administer, score, and review rating scales, questionnaires or other measurement based tools in an effort to assess emotional, functional or psychological conditions as well as establish Veteran-focused, individualized, treatment planning. Administer and/or evaluate results of a full range of psychodiagnostic, intelligence, or personality assessments and tests. The incumbent will utilize interview data, comprehensive assessments, and observations in diagnosing and treating mental health disorders. Provide psychological prevention services for those at significant risk for psychological problems. Screen for cognitive deficits to address specific functional questions or to determine if a referral is indicated for a medical or neuropsychological evaluation. Provide psychological interventions to manage pain, disability, address sleep problems, facilitate weight loss, promote smoking cessation, and enhance medical compliance. Administrative functions: Is responsible for supporting the mission, policies, and procedures of the Department of Veteran Affairs, the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), the appropriate Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN), and the facility. Is willing to serve on committees, work groups, and task forces at the facility as deemed appropriate by the supervisor. Is responsible for furthering one's professional growth through continuing education and for ensuring continuing education appropriate to the area of assignment.
