Job Summary

This position is part of the DOI, ONRR, Deputy Director, Research & Analytics, Analytics & Compliance Planning. You must be able to report to one of the advertised duty stations.

The position(s) may be filled in the following locations: Dallas, TX - $81,186 - $150,426 Lakewood, CO -$83,265 - $154,280 Houston, TX - $86,123 - $159,575 Oklahoma City, OK - $74,678 - $138,370 Tulsa, OK - $74,678 - $138,370 The incumbent will be responsible for serving as a Statistician (Data Scientist).

Key Responsibilities

Serves as a Statistician (Data Scientist) within Analytics and Compliance Planning (ACP) and oversees and directs research and analysis on risk and likelihood of payment and reporting noncompliance to generate compliance and audit cases. Develops new metrics, models, and algorithms for measuring risk; reviews past methods; coordinates with agency stakeholders on the analytic needs of ONRR's audit/compliance community; and continually improves risk models and measurement.

Conducts descriptive, inferential, and predictive statistical analyses using languages such as R or Python to explore data, test hypotheses, interpret output, and implement model training and prediction to inform decisions. Uses data visualization software such as in Oracle Analytics Cloud or Power BI (experience with other tools such as Tableau is also applicable) to explore data and present polished graphical representations of findings to stakeholders.

Translates complex concepts, findings, and limitations into concise, plain language, closely tying findings and conclusions into the agency mission, original problem statement, and team objectives.
