Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Operations Support, Laboratories and Scientific Services, located in Houston, TX. Major Duties

In this Storage Specialist position, you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals who are responsible for the acceptance, documentation, storage, preservation and disposition of samples related to the analysis of trade samples, controlled substances, controlled substances reference materials and training aids, digital forensics and latent print evidence. This position starts at a salary of $71,181.00 (GS-09, Step 1) to $111,966.00 (GS-11, Step 10). GS Salary: Visit this link to view the locality pay tables by geographic area. While serving as a Storage Specialist, your duties will include: Receiving, verifies, documents, and prepares samples submitted for analysis; reviews documentation for accuracy and completeness and obtains additional information from submitting officers as needed. Using CBP automated systems to log, track, monitor, and update sample and evidence records from receipt through final disposition, ensuring data accuracy and timely system updates. Ensuring samples and evidence comply with applicable packaging, labeling, inventory, storage, chain-of-custody, and retention requirements in accordance with CBP policies and procedures. Coordinating the storage, return, transfer, destruction, and final disposition of samples and evidence, including making recommendations on special handling or storage requirements. Conducting and reports inventories of physical evidence and supports vault operations, including maintaining accountability for samples, controlled substances reference materials, and training aids.
