Job Summary

The Division of Insurance and Research (DIR) provides the public with a sound deposit insurance system by: providing comprehensive statistical information on banking; identifying and analyzing emerging risks; conducting research that supports sound deposit insurance, banking policy, improved risk assessment, and consumer protection; and assessing the adequacy of the deposit insurance fund and implementing an effective and fair risk-based premium system.

Internship will begin Fall 2026.

Key Responsibilities

At the full performance level of the position, the duties are as follows: Performs research and compiles financial and economic information. Uses various computer software (e.g., spreadsheet, database, presentation, mapping, design, and economic) to extract data and generate reports. Prepares draft summaries of financial and economic research data on existing and emerging issues. Presents draft research findings orally and in writing to staff.

Maintains and updates various office files to include work papers, data files, and records.

Requirements & Education

A participant must be accepted for enrollment or are enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in a qualifying educational institution or accepted for enrollment or enrolled in a qualifying career or technical education program that awards a recognized postsecondary credential (such as a Registered Apprenticeship Program, Jobs Corps, AmeriCorps, and Peace Corps) on a full or half-time basis; have at least a cumulative (overall) 2.5 grade point average; and remain in good academic standing.
