The primary purpose of this position is: as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position, to serve as a first level supervisor over subordinate aerial refueling technicians and as an aircrew member. Plans, directs, and manages operational and training matters pertaining to assigned refueling technicians. In addition, performs aircrew duties as an aerial refueling technician/instructor in the unit type aircraft.
Duties: Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the aerial refueling section, ensuring that operational and training duties pertaining to aerial refueling technicians comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meet organizational mission. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.
Selects or recommends selection of candidates for vacancies, promotions, details, and reassignments in consideration of skills and qualifications, mission requirements, and EEO and diversity objectives. Develops and provides training for aerial refueling technician instructors and flight examiners as well as aerial refueling aircrew upgrade and proficiency training/instruction as needed.
As required, flies as an aircrew member in unit-aircraft and performs duties as flight instructor.
OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS CONT'D: May be required to maintain flight examiner qualification. Periodically, as prescribed by regulations, must take and pass written and in-flight standardization/ evaluation examinations to include random no-notice evaluations. Required to maintain proficiency in the use of firearms. As prescribed by regulation, may be required to carry and use a concealed weapon while performing aircrew related duties.
The position requires good judgment, patience, tact, and a desire to instruct. May be required to perform duties of sky marshal. This is a testing designated position (TDP). The employee is subject to random drug testing. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. Mobility is a condition of employment. The employee must sign an Air Force-wide mobility agreement.
