Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Air and Marine Operations in the following locations: Aguadilla, PR San Angelo, TX Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

Major Duties

As a Supervisory Aviation Enforcement Agent (Deputy Director), you will provide direction and supervision of a workforce carrying out the organization's law enforcement mission. This position starts at a salary of $152,040.00 (GS-15, Step 1) to $197,200.00 (GS-15, Step 10). Typical duties may include: Sharing responsibility with the Director as they participate with the Assistant Commissioner in the formulation and implementation of Aviation policies and activities, discussing significant aviation and law enforcement operations, important new developments in the aviation law enforcement community and formulating plans policies and courses of action. Sharing responsibility with the Director in exercising broad management direction and oversight of the organization's Aviation offices, making major decisions on projects, changes in program emphasis and division of resources. Conducting long range planning to meet future objectives and determining the need for coordination of necessary organizational changes. Along with the Director, representing the Agency in meetings with officials from other units and within DHS and other federal, state and local agencies to coordinate joint enforcement efforts. Setting priorities and preparing schedules for completion of projects, determining goals and objectives that require special emphasis and determining the best approach for resolving budget shortages.
