This position will allow you to use your expertise to prevent illegal entry of aliens into the United States by land, water, or air; enforce criminal provisions of the Immigration and Nationality Laws; and seek out and apprehend smugglers or aliens who are in the United States illegally. This position starts at a salary of $122,940.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $159,824.00 (GS-13, Step 10). As a second-line Supervisory Border Patrol Agent (Watch Commander), you will serve as a secondary administrative law enforcement officer (under 5 U.S.C. 8331 (6C) and 8412 (d) and be responsible for directing station operations and supervising Border Patrol personnel during an assigned shift.
Typical duties will include: Overseeing station-wide operations, including enforcement, detention and processing, seized property, fleet, facilities, supplies, and interagency coordination. Directing subordinate supervisors, agents, intelligence personnel, processing coordinators, and support staff to accomplish mission objectives.
Developing and implementing station priorities, action plans, policies, and procedures consistent with Headquarters, Sector, and Station objectives. Reviewing administrative and criminal cases for accuracy, legal sufficiency, appropriate processing pathways, and compliance with applicable policy. Coordinating intelligence, interdiction, and operational activities involving information collection, evaluation, dissemination, liaison development, and mission support.
