Job Summary

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, El Paso Field Office, Port of Presidio, located in Presidio, Texas. Key Responsibilities

Joining the Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations will allow you to use your expertise to manage one or more national programs in order to help to detect and prevent terrorists and instruments of terror from entering/exiting the U.S. Apply for this exciting opportunity to direct programs that strengthen the Department's ability to perform homeland security. This position starts at a salary of $129,258.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $168,040.00 (GS-14, Step 10).

In this Supervisory CBP Officer (Port Director) position you will become a key member of a team of Homeland Security professionals managing a variety of law enforcement programs. Typical work assignments include: Directing all inspection, enforcement, and intelligence operations at the port of entry to ensure compliance with federal laws and prevent unauthorized entry or exit.

Establishing and maintaining relationships with other agencies and stakeholders to coordinate enforcement efforts and share information. Addressing and resolving complex operational challenges, including complaints and conflicts, while ensuring adherence to CBP procedures and national priorities. Supervising subordinate managers and staff, setting priorities, evaluating performance, and providing guidance to promote professional growth and integrity.

Managing labor relations by applying collective bargaining agreements and collaborating with union representatives to resolve workforce issues.

Requirements & Education

Please see the Qualifications and Required Documents sections for more information if education is applicable to this position. Training: This position has a training requirement. Selectee(s) are required to attend and successfully complete 101-days of paid training at the CBP Field Operations Academy (FOA) in Glynco, GA. Prior to arriving at the FOA, selectee's must complete approximately 7-10 days of pre-academy training.

Upon successful completion of FOA training, selectee's must complete an additional 14-17 weeks of post-academy training the selectee(s) assigned duty station. You may be required to successfully complete the training requirement as a condition of employment.

Failure to successfully complete the required course(s) of training in accordance with CBP standards and policies will result in placement into either a former or different position, demotion, or separation as determined by management and appropriate procedures.
