Job Summary
This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, OJS, Indian Police Academy in Devils Lake, North Dakota. This position serve as a Supervisory Criminal Investigator (Deputy Chief) and will be responsible for providing oversight and guidance for training activities for law enforcement employees in Indian Country.
Key Responsibilities
As Supervisory Criminal Investigator (Deputy Chief of IPA), GS-1811, your typical work assignments may include, but not limited to: Providing administrative and personnel oversight of all phases of the Office of Justice Services (OJS) training services programs for the Indian Police Academy (IPA). Coordinating training activities between the Division of Law Enforcement Services, Division of Corrections, and the Professional Standards Division.
Providing guidance to field staff in the examination, verification, and maintenance of training records and ensuring training records are accurately and timely completed. Establishing and maintaining an effective working relationship with Indian Tribes, Indian Country law enforcement departments, Native American leaders and organizations.
Providing technical assistance in regards to the training requirements and liabilities of the United States with respect to Native Americans and Alaska Natives. Advising senior officials in OJS of actual or probable legislative, and regulatory actions, Federal, state and tribal activities, which may have an impact on the training and/or legal condition of Indian Country.
