Job Summary

This position is located in the Dental Services Branch of the Gallup Indian Medical Center, in Gallup, NM. The purpose of this position is to provide direct supervision and instruction to other lower level Dental Auxiliaries. The incumbent acts as a clinical supervisor and provides administrative services such as assistant scheduling, maintenance of supplies and up-keep of equipment in Dental Clinic. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).

Major Duties

Manages daily operations of the clinic. Assures that the clinic is adequately staffed and that patients are being seen in an efficient and professional manner, in accordance with Service Unit Dental policies. Provide training for new employees and on-going training for subordinates. Advise the dentists to utilize sources for continuing education. Arranges supplemental training as needed. Restores teeth after preparation has been accomplished. This includes selection, contouring, and placement of matrices; placement of bases and liners and packing; carving and polishing routine and more complex alloy/composite restorations, which include pin retention and cusp build-ups. Takes intra-oral radiographs as directed by the dentist; accurately exposes digital intra- and extra-oral radiographs and correctly stores all radiographic images.

Education
