Job Summary

The Bureau of Labor Statistics measures labor market activity, working conditions, price changes, and productivity in the U.S. economy to support public and private decision making. The position is located in the Office of Field Operations, Division of Industrial Price Programs.

Key Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to: Leads liaison activities and technical support functions between regional and national offices on issues related to assigned surveys and training activities. Resolves operational problems, coordinates responses on technical issues, and ensures timely and effective responses from technical experts in other organizations.

Designs national data collection plans for survey programs including overall workload, position control, resources, budgets, and deliverables to provide survey microdata within parameters of timeliness, quality, response, and productivity. Designs the conceptual, technical, and operational framework of the certification and quality programs for the subject survey(s).

Develop and maintain procedures and training to support the data collection certification and quality programs. Monitors execution of on-the-job training and mentoring to support certification programs. Serves on management oversight groups to contribute to the accomplishment of program and organizational goals. Provides input to senior staff in formulating short-term and strategic plans.

Advises senior management in national and regional offices of the likely impact of program and BLS initiatives on data collection, training and staff development, quality, resource utilization, and management goals.
