This position is located in Philadelphia, PA. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience supervising, directing, and coordinating day-to-day operations of an Emergency Management team, branch or unit; experience leading operational planning projects; experience in Interagency coordination; and experience leading teams during presidentially declared disasters.
What will I do in this position if hired? In this position, you will lead and support incident management activities for major disasters, emergencies, planned national events, and other complex incidents requiring federal coordination. Typical assignments include: Engaging with Federal Emergency Support Function (ESF) partners across the Interagency on readiness activities and during emerging incidents.
Advising state, local, tribal, and federal counterparts on emerging Emergency Management issues in your area of expertise. Representing the Agency at high level meetings and events. Overseeing the development and execution of the branch's annual budget and work plans. Providing supervision and performance management to subject matter experts to include giving advice, counsel, and instruction on emergency management work and administrative matters.
Leading incident support and incident management teams during federally significant disasters, emergencies, planned events, and other high-consequence incidents. What else do I need to know? Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description.
Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
