The Supervisory Environmental Care Specialist performs technical, administrative, and professional supervisory work involving managing, administering, operating, and supporting programs related to Environmental Management Service (EMS) operations at the VA Long Beach Healthcare System, Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs), and other offsite VA facilities. Job Duties include: Provides technical and administrative supervision over the Environment of Care (EOC) and Textile Care Operations sections of EMS. EMS supports facility operation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. Responsible for indirectly supervising one (1) Environment of Care Specialist; one (1) GS-9 Environment of Care Trainer; and one (1) GS9 Program Specialist one (1), and direct supervision of four (4) Housekeeping Aid Supervisors.
Provides oversight of EOC and Textile Care Operations sections' daily operations, ensuring all provides oversight of EOC and Textile Care Operations sections' daily operations, ensuring all facility and service level operational goals are accomplished in accordance with agency, station, and service policies.
Plans, assigns, and directs Supervisory EOC Technicians' workload for daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual requirements providing appropriate deadlines for completion of work. Provides overall technical oversight to all frontline operational functions.
Assists with personnel administration including knowledge of personnel operations, position classifications, grievance procedures, performance standards, functional statements, scopes of practice and disciplinary action. Responsible for time and attendance for all employees under his/her supervision. Primary point of contact (POC) for all sanitation and textile needs for the main facility, CBOCs and other offsite VA facilities.
Responsible for working with all service lines to include frontline staff, service chiefs, and executive leadership to address issues supported by EMS frontline operations. Responsible for emphasizing maintaining maintenance of facility environment of care within acceptable bacteriological levels and visual cleanliness. Develops policies, SOP's and tracking mechanisms for EMS EOC and Textile Operations sections.
Serves as primary Contracting Officer Representative (COR) Solid Waste Disposal, Recyclable Waste Disposal exceeding $250,000, and any additional EMS multi-year service contracts that may be necessary for operational functionality.
The incumbent will be required to attend quarterly meetings with the Contracting Officer (CO) to review mandatory reporting requirements, conduct performance audits, conduct fiscal audits, review potential adjustments, maintain current certification and funding justifications. Serves as the EMS Safety Coordinator and an active member of the Safety and Leadership Committee. Work Schedule: Variable Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
