The mission of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) is to provide the fullest possible accounting for our missing personnel from our Nation's past conflicts to their families and our Nation. DPAA personnel research, investigate, recover and identify remains of DoW personnel unaccounted for from World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Cold War, Iraq conflicts and the Persian Gulf War.
The DPAA Director (SES-3) reports to the Under Secretary of War for Personnel & Readiness (USW(P&R)).
Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Supports DPAA key leader engagements, and prepares decision memoranda, background papers, and high-level briefings for OSD leadership and inter-agency counterparts. Negotiates and defends agency requirements to establish and sustain operational, tactical, and diplomatic relationships with host nation governments, U.S.
Embassy personnel, regional commands, non-governmental organizations, and local landowners to secure access to suspected loss incident sites. Provides logistical sustainment, equipment, and command and control for investigation, disinterment, and recovery teams operating in often austere or hazardous overseas environments Assigns, plans, and schedules work based on Europe Mediterranean Directorate priorities, balancing workload and effectively utilizing staff skills.
Influences and persuades functional counterparts in response to legislative directions, often resolving competing priorities or resistance to agency initiatives.

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis.
If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
