Job Summary

You will serve as a Supervisory Human Resources Specialist (Classification) within the Office of the Secretary, Office of Human Capital. Duty location will be based on selectee's current DOI duty location.

Key Responsibilities

At the full performance level GS-14 the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Serves as a first-level supervisor over a team of Human Resources Specialists responsible for the development and maintenance of standardized position descriptions.

Plans, assigns, and reviews work; establishes performance expectations; conducts performance evaluations; identifies training needs; and ensures compliance with DOI supervisory and labor-management requirements. Leads and oversees DOI's standardized position description program, establishing processes, controls, and governance mechanisms to ensure consistency, accuracy, and sustainability of SPDs across bureaus and offices.

Provides authoritative technical expertise in position classification, position management and SPD development. Serves as a senior classification advisor and principal liaison with the OPM, maintaining ongoing communication and coordination related to standardized position descriptions, classification policy, and implementation requirements. The position is suitable for telework and the incumbent may be allowed to telework with supervisory approval.
