Job Summary
The United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia's mission is to enforce the criminal laws of the United States and the District of Columbia, represent the interests of the United States in civil litigation, and respond to the public safety needs of the community by leading an effective, well-coordinated law enforcement effort that contributes to the overall goal of improving the quality of life in the District of Columbia.
Key Responsibilities
If selected for this position, you will serve as the Supervisory Human Resources Specialist in the Personnel Operations Unit (POU), Human Resources Section (HRS) of the Administrative Division (AD) by planning, developing, and implementing policies and procedures governing recruitment, selection, placement, merit promotion, classification and position management, reduction-in-force, employee benefits, affirmative action, personnel processing, NFC and personnel payroll system, management of official personnel records, Delegated Examining Unit (DEU) authority, and special programs in the United States Attorney's Office, District of Columbia.
Typical work assignments will include: Provides advice and assistance to supervisors and hiring managers on recruitment and placement authorities and strategies. Advises and assists supervisors and employees in regards to merit promotion, affirmative action and employee benefits. Advises staff regarding performance requirements, evaluates performance and identifies developmental/training needs.
Oversees and supervises the recruitment and staffing process by ensuring recruitment, qualification, eligibility and veteran preference determinations and appointments are appropriately and accurately utilized. Oversees and manages personnel action processing to ensure accuracy and timeliness of processing. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
