Serves as a technical expert in personal computer hardware, local area networks (LANs), commercial personal computer software, custom personal computer programming, telecommunications and must possess a mastery of these specialty areas. Performs major diagnostics and troubleshooting on personal computers and all related equipment.
Responsible for regional information technology (IT) related duties, such as oversight, guidance, and staff training related to information systems and security; and coordination of institution staff assist visits and ensuring operational reviews are conducted in a timely fashion. Responsible for the implementation, maintenance, administration, support and training for the Bureau of Prisons' (BOP) video tele-conferencing system (VTC).
Serves as an expert resource for the IT branches in developing and directing information resource management techniques for use by shared processing environments.
