The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the HQ senior intelligence technical expert and advisor for HQ Twelfth Air Force, Air Forces Southern (12 AF (AFSOUTH)) and the Executive Director for the Intelligence Directorate (A2) of 12AF (AFSOUTH).

Major Duties

DUTY 1: Serves as Senior Intelligence Official for 12 AF (AFSOUTH). Possesses significant depth of experience in joint/combined military intelligence operations (at tactical, operational and strategic levels), joint/combined planning, and leadership; extensive formal training on US command and control of joint/combined intelligence operations as well as broad geopolitical knowledge and experience related to LATAM regional and country-specific issues. DUTY 2: Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Directs, coordinates, and oversees work through subordinate supervisors. DUTY 3: Serves as Executive Director, 12 AF (AFSOUTH) Intelligence Directorate (A2): Provides O-6/GG-15 level of continuity of leadership and direction to the C-NAF A2 staff. DUTY 4: Represents the A2 and C-NAF Commander (Maj Gen) with a variety of outside agencies and installation organizations to include but not limited to Assistant Secretaries of Defense, HAF, HQ USSOUTHCOM, HQ ACC, USMILGRP staffs and US Embassy staffs (up to and including Ambassadors [4-star equivalents]). DUTY 5: Serves as Designated Intelligence Functional Area Manager (FAM): Commander, 12 AF (AFSOUTH)'s focal point for personnel matters affecting all assigned/attached intelligence personnel, to include the staff, Air Operations Center and all assigned units forward deployed in the USSOUTHCOM AOR or providing federated intelligence support to USSOUTHCOM missions.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This position is a Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel Systems (DCIPS) position implemented under Section 504, Title V of Public Law 99-569, Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1987, as codified in Sec 1601, Chap 83 of Title 10 United States Code which sets forth Air Force policies and procedures for DCIPS. This position is in the Excepted Service.
