Job Summary

This position serves as a Supervisory Inventory Management Specialist for expendable (EX) assets/materials for the Logistics Service within the VA Health Care System supervising multiple supply series of consumable medical supply/inventory used in the healthcare system as well as the micro-purchase program and recognized as the Commodity Management Division's subject matter expert serving as an advisor and consultant to the Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO) and Assistant CSCO.

Key Responsibilities

Duties include, but may not be limited to the following: Supply Management: responsible for the inventory management, control and distribution of expendable inventory; ensures maximum effectiveness in the management of inventories; has oversight and accountability of the management plan for the commodity program; conducts effectiveness/efficiency reviews; oversees the computation of requirements for supplies; may serve as the approving official for approving reconciled purchase card transactions; oversees the care and handling of specialized items; prepares/reviews submissions to obtain approval or funding; and acts as the central point of contact for the coordination of commodity support and the resolution of logistics problems; Returns, Recalls and Reutilization: manages federal and agency programs for the return and reutilization of medical supplies; approves emergent procurement decisions; participates in root cause analysis process; and serves as the utilization and disposal official for excess consumables; Supervision: supervises employees from separate but interrelated units; makes recommendations for promotions, reassignments and awards; develops position descriptions and performance standards; conducts semi-annual and annual performance reviews; assists subordinate staff with performance issues; schedules and grants leave; monitors overtime usage; resolves informal complaints and grievances; develops the ability of subordinate staff; develops individual development plans for professional growth and development; coordinates and integrates various technical units to ensure compliance; conducts on the job training and in service training; and assesses training and educational needs and implements training programs; Performs other related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday to Friday; Administrative tour-of-duty - times are open for discussion between 8:00am to 4:30pm Telework: Ad Hoc telework only, as determined by agency policy; to be discussed during interview process. Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
