Job Summary

The Supervisory IT Specialist (Enterprise Architect) position is in the Office of the Deputy Director, Case Management Modernization (CMM) Program Office. The CMM Program Office drives change management and adoption practices to achieve delivery of a modernized, efficient, and secure case management environment. This role leads teams, manages resources, and applies knowledge to deliver solutions that support the judiciary's mission and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts (AO), Office of the Deputy Director, Case Management Modernization Office (CMM) is seeking an experienced Supervisory IT Specialist (Enterprise Architect) to join its team.

The Supervisory IT Specialist (Enterprise Architect) leads a team of architects, including vendors, to design technical solutions across the CMM product, bringing a broad range of technical skills and acting as a bridge between the build, product architecture (PAX), data, and security workstreams.

Sitting in the PAX solution layer, this position uses modern tools and technologies to recommend technical solutions that enable secure, scalable delivery aligned to AO enterprise expectations. This is a hands-on position that may require interactions with courts, court support teams, development and internal teams, and administrative staff from both a technical and business perspective.

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to: Uncovering and documenting nonfunctional requirements and architecture runway to de-risk delivery across sprints and releases. Partnering with DevSecOps engineers and security pods to ensure designs satisfy secure-by-design expectations and delivery evidence needs. Developing guidance on development strategy, tooling dependencies, and best practices to ensure the build pods move at a strong pace.

Developing solution designs for operational readiness including observability, reliability, and support handoffs, in concert with other PAX pod members. Collaborating with security and data architects to ensure cloud patterns enable API, data, and cross-service interoperability. Working with other enterprise, cloud, data, and solution architects in the implementation of a new cloud-based enterprise compute platform for a judiciary critical system.

Developing and implementing requirements and appropriate design patterns that satisfy the needs of the various system components. Leading the exploration of alternate design choices, particularly in lieu of other 3rd party technology stacks and solutions. Driving innovation across development teams by developing best practices and innovative approaches using modern cloud strategies.

Collaborating with technical and business subject matter experts to develop the appropriate implementation strategies enabling the optimal use of modern cloud tools and platforms. Working with enterprise architects across the judiciary to develop best practices, methods, and standards needed to run a world-class cloud system. Surfacing and documenting architectural risks, tradeoffs, and alternatives for timely escalation.

Participating in solution architecture reviews to align technical decisions to program-wide guardrails and cross-pod dependencies.

Requirements & Education

This position does not require education to qualify. However, a bachelor's degree (BA or BS) from a four-year college or university in business, computer science, information technology or a related field is highly desired .
