This is a National Guard Title 32 Excepted position for a SUPERVISORY IT SPECIALIST (SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION), Position Description Number PDD2490P02 , and is part of the SC USPFO, South Carolina Army National Guard.
This position is located in a National Guard JFHQ-State organization under the office of the Chief Information Officer(CIO/G6/J6). This is a National Guard Dual Status Technician position requiring military membership. Serves as project leader/supervisor responsible for developing, assigning, and coordinating duties and projects for systems administrators.
Serves as the senior systems administrator responsible for planning, coordinating, modifying, implementing, and troubleshooting to support customer needs. The systems administered involve multiple hardware platforms running multiple operating systems in both physical and virtual configurations.
The incumbent is accountable for the planning and coordinating the installation, testing, system security configuration and monitoring, operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of all server hardware and software. Work pertains to the administration of all systems including ensuring the efficient integration between systems as well as compatibility within the network infrastructure.
The supervised team members are specifically assigned to multiple system platforms located throughout the state. Work in this series includes managing, supervising, leading, administering, developing, delivering, and supporting information technology (IT) systems and services. This series covers only those positions for which the paramount requirement is knowledge of IT principles, concepts, and methods, e.g., data storage, software applications, networking.
Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience - For the GS-5 level, a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree may be substituted for the experience requirements. At the GS-7 level, one full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement. At the GS-9 level, a masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree may be substituted. At the GS-11 level, a Ph.D.
or equivalent, or 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.
Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
