This position is located within the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Veterans Integrated Service Network 9 (VISN9), at the Lexington Veterans Affairs Health Care System (LVAHCS). This position services as a Supervisory Medical Management Specialist for Specialty Care Service and reports directly to the Chief of Specialty Care Service.
Some of duties of the position include, but are not limited to; Compiles information and prepares administrative reports for management briefing Assists Chief in preparing staffing needs Develops and maintains organizational and functional charts Assists Chief in preparing performance appraisals in e-performance Manages budget formulation and execution for a changing budget of administrative expenses involving different funding sources Monitors balances and recommends reprogramming of funds as needed Develops detailed contract requirements and statements of work (SOWs) for specialty care services in collaboration with clinical leadership, subject matter experts, and acquisition personnel Works with contracting/acquisition office to develop, review, modify, and finalize contracts for specialty care services Communicates verbally and in writing with other services, agencies and private industry to produce prompt and accurate dissemination of information according to VHA guidelines.
Writes position descriptions and performance standards for the office positions Conducts regular meetings with subordinates across different sites of care to coordinate planning Communicates with Veterans to resolve complaints and ensure continuity of services Identifies problems and/or opportunities to improve performance through such avenues as informal meetings, statistical data reviews, and reviews of compliance criteria Reviews, analyzes, and interprets incoming requests based on knowledge of internal operations, agency personnel policies, budgetary constraints, and work priorities.
Maintains service copies of Medical Center Memorandums and Standard Operating Procedures for reference Analyzes, interprets, and implements regulations accurately to reflect current operating procedures Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
