The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System VA Medical Center is recruiting for a Supervisory Medical Supply Technician. The Supervisory Medical Supply Technician is responsible for direct supervision of day-to-day operations in Sterile Processing Service. The Supervisory Medical Supply Technician will function within the Sterile Processing Service Service (SPS) section of the Medical Center.
Duties of the Supervisory Medical Supply Technician (Sterile Processing) include, but are not limited to: Directs supervision of day-to-day operations in Endoscopy/Sterile Processing Service, regardless of tour of duty. Oversees and supervises all aspects of decontamination, preparation, sterilization, monitoring, and distribution of RMD (Reusable Medical Devices).
Functions as a first-level supervisor responsible for a group of MSTs and for planning and directing the work according to SPS Standards and VHA Directives. Holds corrective interviews with employees, refers disciplinary problems to higher levels of management. Assigns, plans and evaluates work, recommends awards, identifies training needs, and resolves staff issues.
Develops, analyzes, and evaluates facts relative to unsatisfactory conditions or trends and informs higher level of management. Manages, interacts and deals with individuals of varying backgrounds. Directs staff and managing tasks to be completed. Assigns, plans and evaluates work, recommends awards, approves leave, identifies training needs, and resolves staff issues. Informs higher level management of anticipated vacancies or increases in workload.
Recommends promotions, reassignments, recognition of superior performance, retention or release of probationary employees or other changes of assigned personnel. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
