This position is located under the VA Community Care (VACC) Service at the C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center, Bay Pines, FL. The Supervisory Medical Support Assistant continuously embraces and supports the mission, vision, and values of the VA Healthcare System.
The Supervisor conducts program analysis studies and evaluations for situations that affect the orderly and efficient processing of the VACC Program. Assignments at this level include, but are not limited to: Plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates activities of subordinate administrative and clerical staff. Monitors staff competencies and maintains competency folders per regulatory guidelines while identifying education and training needs.
Manages Human Resource aspects of service operations including hiring, disciplinary actions, and Labor/Management relations. Collaborates with the Supervisor on resource management, staffing needs, space planning, and equipment/technology requirements. Resolves formal grievances at the supervisory level and recommends higher-level disciplinary actions when necessary. Ensures compliance with Department of Veterans Affairs EEO guidelines for the section.
Interprets national regulations, policy, legislation, directives, and policies relating to Care in the Community, patient eligibility, and quality/risk managements to develop compliance guidance. Uses advanced knowledge of VACC and multiple eligibility and transfer programs to provide guidance to staff. Perform other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm.
