Job Summary

This position is located at the Chalmers P. Wylie VA Ambulatory Care Center. The incumbent serves as a Supervisory Medical Support Assistant (MSA) for Surgical Services. Incumbent must possess knowledge of clinic processes and services to function in and interact with various clinics throughout the facility. The employee must have knowledge of and ability to apply policies and procedures associated with operational activities that affect workload data.

Key Responsibilities

Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Duties include but are not limited to: Full responsibility for supervising subordinate advanced medical support assistant within the service. Assignments at this level include but are not limited to evaluating the work of subordinate. Resolving complex problems to ensure patient services are met.

Demonstrates courtesy and professionalism as frontline contact with patients and staff, the supervisory MSA sets the tone for perception concerning quality of healthcare services at the VA. Meets, communicates, and interacts demonstrates ability to meet, communicate, and interact with individuals from varying backgrounds and with other healthcare team members in order to complete job assignments.

Operates computerized programs demonstrates ability to use various types of office automation equipment and software, to include ability to set up, organize, and maintain record systems. Utilizes such programs and databases to make appointments in a clinical setting.

Employee education complies with employee education requirements by completing mandatory annual assignments through the TMS and complies with any other training or education requirements as determined by the supervisor.

Work Schedule: Monday- Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm Recruitment/Relocation Incentives (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance):Not Authorized Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.

Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.

Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Telework: Ad-Hoc Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
