You will serve as a Supervisory Park Ranger (AIS) Seasonal for Glacier National Park. Supervise personnel conducting watercraft inspection and decontamination as part of a park wide aquatic invasive species monitoring and prevention program. Coordinate and supervise volunteers and agency partners associated with the aquatic invasive species monitoring and prevention program.
Facilitating visitor contacts to enhance public understanding of the threat of aquatic nuisance species and the role of the public in park resource protection and supervising others conducting this task. Encourage visitor behavior consistent with resource use and management of park resources in support of the NPS mission and supervising others conducting this task.
Physical Demands: This position involves sedentary work but is also required to stand for long periods of time in the outside environment, as well as walk, bend, and lift moderately heavy items. Other physical demands including crawling under and in tight spaces in boats and mental stress and physical fatigue occur due to high volume of personal contacts.
Work Environment: Work is primarily performed outdoors which results in exposure to extremes of temperature, rain, wind, and direct sunlight. High levels of vehicle noise and emissions may exist during heavy visitation periods. Duties may be performed alone in isolated locations.
