Job Summary

The mission of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) is to provide the fullest possible accounting for our missing personnel from our Nation's past conflicts to their families and our Nation. DPAA personnel research, investigate, recover and identify remains of DoW personnel unaccounted for from World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Cold War, Iraq conflicts and the Persian Gulf War.

The DPAA Director (SES-3) reports to the Under Secretary of War for Personnel & Readiness (USW(P&R)).

Key Responsibilities

Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Establishes governance policies, metrics, and file plans across all physical and electronic formats. Partners with the CIO, CDO, and IT leadership to integrate recordkeeping requirements into agency data repositories. Oversees the development and review of Systems of Records Notices (SORNs), Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), and SSN Justifications.

Directs agency document management contracts by developing Statements of Work (SOWs), Independent Government Cost Estimates (IGCEs), and Market Research. Plans and assigns work, establishes performance standards, and conducts appraisals; handles recruitment, awards, and disciplinary actions.
