Job Summary

This position is asigned to the Community Recreation Division; Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department; Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC). The purpose of this position is to provide supervision and oversight of the professional picture framing and engraving services and support to all military communities in the Frame and Engraving Shops, a section of the MWR Arts and Crafts Division.

Major Duties

General (includes but not limited to): Oversees day to day operations of the Frame and Engraving Shops. Assists customers with framing and engraving requests. Keeps abreast of marketing trends and new technology in the framing and engraving field and makes recommendations for change. Ensures control and accountability of inventory, supplies and equipment. Ensures equipment and facilities meet all regulatory and safety standards and proper maintenance is performed on all equipment. Keeps work areas clean, organized and in safety compliance. Ensures all cash handling and financial transactions are completed as required and purchasing and pricing guidelines are adhered to in accordance with CNIC 1710.3. Plans, organizes and carries out instructional classes and oversees the self-help program. Uses potentially hazardous equipment on a daily basis, to include an industrial miter saw, chop saw, wall mounted glass cutter for cutting sheets of glass (48 x 36 inches), v-nailer, vacuum heat mounting table set at 175 degrees, staple gun, air compressor, canvas stretcher and various hand held tools such as box-cutters, hammers, razorblades, drills, awls, etc. Utilizes three computer programs including a point of sales system, an inventory accountability system and a computer-generated mat cutting program. Teaches co-workers and customers how to clean and maintain equipment, operate, inspect and check equipment, adjust and set up a variety of equipment. Ensures compliance with safety and environmental requirements in order to maintain a safe and healthful workplace. Submits safety mishap reports promptly and investigates all accidents. Ensures employees injured on the job receive proper medical treatment and reports to the Director for further action. Transports patrons off base to designated locations for trips, classes or programming. Supervisory duties comprise 25% of incumbent's time and include but are not limited to: Assigns work based on priorities, difficulty and requirements of assignments, and staff. Directs work to be accomplished by staff, capabilities Conducts annual performance reviews of staff. Participates in section staffing decisions. Ensures staff receives proper training to fulfill requirements of their positions. Addresses potential disciplinary and/or performance issues timely and takes appropriate, corrective action(s) as necessary.
