Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Operations Support, CBP Watch, located in Orlando, Florida. As a supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for supervising a team of Sector Enforcement Specialists that are assigned to the Communications Center Operations (CCO) Branch. The CCO is composed of three units, the East Sector Unit, the Southwest Sector Unit, and the West Sector Unit. The incumbent plans, assigns, reviews, and accepts, amends, or rejects work done by subordinates. This position starts at a salary of $89,508.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $116,362.00 (GS-12, Step 10).
The incumbent coordinates unit initiatives among subordinates and trains or arranges for the training of subordinates in techniques of team building and technical training necessary for accomplishment of the unit's tasks, and communicates to the team the assignment, project, or problem to be solved.
Typical duties include: Identifying, distributing, and balancing workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established workflow, skill level and/or occupational specialization and adjusting priorities to ensure timely accomplishment of assigned team tasks. Evaluating and tracking the progress and quality of work performed by subordinates, and giving advice, counsel, and/or instruction on both work and administrative matters.
Serving as the subject matter expert (SME) in the use of such automated enforcement information systems as National Crime Information Center (NCIC), National Law Enforcement Telecommunications Systems (NLETS), various Immigration law enforcement systems, and state law enforcement systems.
Developing new or substantially modified work processes, procedures, criteria for software and hardware enhancements which strongly influence or change the way in which participating federal, state, and local user agencies utilize Custom (CBP's) HF and VHF Land Mobile Radio (LMR) networks.
