The Southern Arizona VA Healthcare Network is recruiting for a Supervisory Social Worker. The incumbent assumes the supervisory and administrative responsibility for the management of the assigned social workers who function within the Emergency Department.
Duties include but not limited to: Supervises a group of employees performing work at various GS levels up to their own grade and provides administrative, technical, and clinical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit. Perform the administrative and personnel management functions relative to the staff supervised. Provide informal feedback and periodically evaluates employee performance.
Establish a working monthly schedule for 24/7 mental health coverage in the Emergency Department to include holidays. Perform specialized treatment of complex physical and mental illness. Ensure suicide protocols are followed and completed on all patients in the ED if medical conditions do not prohibit such assessments. Assist patients and their families complete Advance Directives, goals of care, and provides a full bio-psychosocial assessment as clinically indicated.
