This Supervisory Social Work position is in Social Worker service at the VA Boston Healthcare System, located at the Jamaica Plain, MA campus. This position is a full-time at 40 hours per week.
The purpose of this position is to serve as the Supervisory Social Worker and Post-9/11 Military2VA (M2VA) Case Management Program Manager for the VA Boston Healthcare System. The incumbent is responsible for the oversight, administration, supervision, coordination, and operation of the M2VA Case Management Program and associated social work services.
Duties include, but are not limited to: Provides administrative, clinical, and programmatic supervision to assigned Social Work staff, including advanced practice social workers and interdisciplinary team members. Supervises and evaluates subordinate staff performance, establishes performance expectations, conducts performance reviews, and addresses employee relations and disciplinary matters as appropriate.
Coordinates care management services for Veterans and service members with complex medical, psychosocial, behavioral health, and transition-related needs. Facilitates continuity of care across multiple Medical Centers and Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs). Collaborates with community Veteran support organizations, including the Warrior Care Network (WCN), Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program, and Expiration of Term of Service (ETS) Sponsorship Program.
Oversees strategic planning, program development, policy implementation, and operational management for the M2VA program and associated case management services. Develops and implements policies, procedures, quality improvement initiatives, and performance measures to ensure compliance with VHA, Joint Commission, CARF, and other accrediting and regulatory standards.
Monitors program outcomes, analyzes performance metrics, prepares reports, and ensures program goals and objectives are achieved. Conducts program reviews, evaluations, and assessments to improve quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of services provided to Veterans and service members. Participates in recruitment activities, reviews applications, interviews candidates, and recommends selections for assigned Social Work positions.
Coordinates interdisciplinary program operations and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to support comprehensive Veteran care and transition services. Represents Social Work Service and the M2VA program on committees, workgroups, and VISN or facility initiatives. Ensures OEF/OIF/OND service members and Veterans are appropriately screened, assessed, and referred for case management, mental health, medical, and supportive services.
Oversees program compliance with VACO, VISN, facility, and Social Work Service goals, directives, and standards. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Compressed/Flexible: Not available. Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized. Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases.
When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year).
Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66. Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA.
