Major Duties

General Manager Duties: As a Front Line Manager you will: Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities and prepares schedules for completion of work. Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees. Evaluate work performance of subordinates and makes recommendations for outstanding performance recognition and/or disciplinary action. Give advice, counsel or instruction to employees on work and administrative matters. Interview candidates for positions within the organization/unit and recommend appointment, promotion or reassignment to such positions. Hear and resolve complaints from employees, refer group grievances and/or more serious unresolved complaints as appropriate. Effect minor disciplinary measures, such as warnings and reprimands, recommend other actions in more serious cases. Identify developmental and training needs of employees, providing or arranging for needed development and training. Initiate ways to improve production, work processes and/or to increase the quality of the work directed. The following are the job specific duties of this position. You will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and receive training to help you grow in this position. Serve as a full first-line supervisory authority over a team of Tax Specialists responsible for administering and resolving complex tax account and compliance matters. Plans, assigns, and reviews work to ensure timely and accurate accomplishment of program objectives consistent with organizational priorities. Establishes performance expectations and quality standards, monitors production and casework through analysis of workload reports and quality data and takes appropriate corrective actions to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. Evaluates employee performance; provides ongoing feedback, coaching, and technical guidance; prepares performance appraisals; and addresses conduct and performance matters in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and policy. Exercises delegated personnel authority, including interviewing and selecting candidates, approving leave, recommending awards or disciplinary actions, and identifying developmental and training needs to enhance workforce capability. Analyzes staffing levels, inventory trends, and resource requirements to ensure balanced workload distribution and optimal utilization of personnel. Communicates organizational goals, policy updates, and procedural changes to staff and ensures adherence to internal controls, disclosure requirements, safeguarding standards, and Internal Revenue Manual (IRM) procedures. Advises management on unit performance, operational risks, and workforce planning while promoting a work environment that upholds taxpayer rights, supports voluntary compliance, and advances fair and equitable tax administration. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with Taxpayer Services and other Business Operating Divisions (BODs) to promote collaboration, consistency, and effective tax administration. Engage with key stakeholders, customers, and coordinating officials to assess service needs, customer satisfaction, clarify policies and procedures, and resolve complex or sensitive issues. Ensures the provision of accurate and timely guidance and training to internal and external stakeholders, directly or through subordinate staff, to support consistent application of tax laws and program requirements. Education

A college or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
