This job opportunity announcement (JOA) will be used to fill one (1) full-time and permanent Supervisory Transportation Assistant, GS-2102-07, vacancy at the Louisville, KY Veteran Affairs Medical Center (VAMC), with Business Office Service. The Supervisory Transportation Assistant operates within the Veterans Transportation Service (VTS) with the Business Office at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center.
The Supervisory Transportation Assistant is directly supervised by and collaborates with the VTS Mobility Manager for transportation workload forecasting, scheduling design, procedure development, quality improvement implementation, modification of processes, evaluation and ongoing operation of the VTS.
The Supervisory Transportation Assistant provides technical and administrative supervision to GS-06 Transportation Coordinator; WG-06 Motor Vehicle Operators; and GS-05 Beneficiary Travel Clerks. Providing performance standards, evaluates their performance, make determination on grievances, and recommend training.Duties include but are not limited to: Collects, compiles, and tracks data and statistical information in support of VTS.
Performs basic analysis of data and generates a variety of reports. Collates data from various sources. Enters information into and maintains an automated tracking system. Applies analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to plan and conduct limited factual studies and analyses concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of operations. Formulates recommendations to modify procedures and practices to improve the effectiveness of administrative services.
Conducts limited factual studies and analyses concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of medical facility health care operations and to formulate recommendations to modify procedures and practices to improve the effectiveness of administrative services. Communicates and treats customers in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner. Communicates with others locally and nationally.
Exercises a high degree of coordinating ability, tact, poise, and diplomacy in dealing with staff and the public, both within and outside the facility. Performs the full gamut of supervisory duties including leave approval, writing performance standards, completing annual performance appraisals, disciplining/rewarding employees, etc. Monitors the quality and quantity of work performed. Advises; counsels, or instructs employees on work and administrative matters.
