Job Summary

The Veterans Service Center Manager (VSCM) is responsible for the administration and management of the Veterans Service Center providing information and assistance to Veterans and their dependents regarding Veterans' rights and benefits under laws administered by VA and other agencies. The VSCM is responsible for directing and supervising the administration, control, and direction of VA's compensation and pension programs through a team of Service Center Supervisors.

Major Duties

The Veterans Service Center Manager (VSCM) is responsible for the administration and management of the Veterans Service Center providing information and assistance to Veterans and their dependents regarding Veterans' rights and benefits under laws administered by VA and other agencies. The VSCM is responsible for directing and supervising the administration, control, and direction of VA's compensation and pension programs through a team of Service Center Supervisors. The VSCM provides leadership and direction to the Veterans Service Center and coordinates its activities with other divisions within the regional office. The VSCM serves as liaison with civic and Veterans' organizations in the various Veterans benefit programs to coordinate efforts and enhance cooperation with VA. The VSCM ensures equal opportunities for all Veterans Service Center employees and supports EEO goals and is responsible for budgetary controls and expenditures for the Veterans Service Center. - Responsible for the administration and management of the Veterans Service Center providing information and assistance to Veterans and their dependents regarding Veterans' rights and benefits under laws administered by VA and other agencies. - Participates in the formulation of policies, development of human resources, staff development, fiscal planning, and program evaluation of the Service Center. - Coordinates functions with other divisions and service organizations that have an impact on the processing of Veterans claims. - Responsible for direct supervision of Service Center coaches and, through them, assigned personnel. Recommends selections, prepares performance ratings, reviews serious disciplinary actions, hears and resolves grievances, and makes recommendations for incentive awards and/or promotions involving personnel under his/her jurisdiction. - Responsible for the quality of service to Veterans and beneficiaries as related to the rating activity, including determinations of quality level and taking positive supervisory steps to correct deficient quality. - Ensures equal employment opportunities for all Service Center employees. - Assumes responsibility for budgetary controls and expenditures of fund allocation for the Division. - Provides timely responses to Congressional, White House and other special inquiries concerning VA benefits. Work Schedule: Full time, Monday through Friday, 0800AM-430PM Telework: This position is eligible for situational (ad hoc) telework only. The selectee is required to report to the official duty station each scheduled workday. Telework may be approved only on a case-by-case basis with supervisory approval. Routine or recurring telework is not authorized for this position. Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Position Description/PD#:Supervisory Veterans Service Representative, 37979A Relocation Expenses: Authorized. Relocation expenses and services (Permanent Change of Station - PCS) are authorized. PCS covers the relocation of a household for government convenience when transferring between duty stations. By accepting PCS, the selectee agrees to remain in Federal service for 12 months after the move. Failure to complete the service period may require repayment of PCS expenses.
