This position serves as Supply Technician (Medical) for the Medical Supply Distribution (MSD) areas of Logistics Service within the VA Health Care System. As a Supply Technician, you will provide wards, clinics, operating rooms, secondary storage locations, and other hospital facilities with supplies and material including, but not limited to, sterile and non-sterile medical supplies, instrument sets and equipment.
Major Duties may include, but not limited to: Maintains stock at primary and secondary locations for all clinical and administrative services. Pulling stock inventory and material from main inventory for delivery, replenishing stock, and inventory. Interacts with clinical and administrative customers to ensure issues and needs are met. Communicates to Lead or Supervisor any concerns related to supplies, equipment and procedures, customer issues, etc.
Monitors expiration dates, rotates stock and removes outdated items from use. Performs daily inventory of primary and secondary inventory points using bar coding equipment. Resolves differences between records and physical count of stock. Distributes items according to computerized inventory management systems such as GIP. Fills requests based on daily schedules of need or emergent basis. Completes specialty cart preparation and stocking.
Cleans shelves and bins in assigned areas. Supports wall-to-wall and periodic inventories. Assists in other functional areas of the section as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned.
