As a Technical Services Specialist, you will administer an assigned supply program engineering support business product administrative area. Location of position: Federal Acquisition Service (FAS); Office of Shared Services Delivery; Office of Supply Management; Global Supply Management Service Center; Engineering Division We are currently filling two vacancies, but additional vacancies may be filled as needed.
Position can be filled in any of the following locations: Atlanta, GA; Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Fort Worth, TX; Kansas City, MO; Lakewood, CO; New York, NY; Philadelphia, PA; San Francisco, CA; Tacoma, WA; Washington, DC You will perform the following duties: Performs a wide variety of functions pertaining to business and industry operations, practices, characteristics, and documentation for use in procurement of products (e.g., supplies, furniture, tools, etc.) and related methods and processes. Conducts comprehensive technical, quantitative, qualitative, and/or other evaluations of routine and non-routine commercial-of-the-shelf (i.e., COTS), complex, ambiguous, and/or unprecedented product descriptions, blueprints, performance and/or other specifications, drawing, as well as myriad other documentation and information submitted by civilian and defense agencies. Reviews peer technical and other writings and contract descriptions to eliminate technical ambiguity, contradictory language, or conflicts with broader FAS objectives. Extracts, formats, and translates raw engineering data and industrial research findings into plain-language guides accessible to non-technical procurement personnel, agency buyers, and/or other stakeholders. Authors, designs, and structurally alters highly complex technical materials, including research finding reports, specialized technical articles, procurement brochures, item catalogs, and various other deliverables. Evaluates, mediates, and independently resolves highly complex technical disputes and formal vendor challenges arising from rigid commodity/supply/product management decisions or specification enforcement.
