This position is located in Response and Recovery, Response Directorate, Disaster Emergency Communication Division, Maynard MERS detachment. The ideal candidate for this position will have considerable expertise in planning, designing, deploying, and operating mobile, wideband, and narrowband RF systems and their associated ancillary equipment - including radios, amplifiers, duplexers, antennas, multiplexers, modems, and fiber optic transmission systems.
What will I do in this position if hired? In this position, you will serve as a Telecommunication Specialist -RF. Typical assignments include: Planning and implementing the deployment, placement, installation, integration, operation, maintenance and testing of a large variety of wide and narrowband radio systems to include their associated ancillary sub systems.
Performing, monitoring, testing, alignment and fault isolation of voice, data, and radio telecommunication systems using state-of-the-art test and diagnostic equipment and perform system repairs to the lowest component level unit. Coordinating with FEMA, other government agencies, and non-government personnel for the restoration and repair of voice, data and video telecommunications circuits.
Developing procedures and checklists to ensure effective operation and readiness of assigned communications systems, vehicles, and team member personnel. What else do I need to know? Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
