Job Summary

THIS IS AN ARMY NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a TITLE 32 ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC (MI AASF 2), Position Description Number NGD0872P01 and is part of the MI AASF 2, Michigan Army National Guard. MICHIGAN ARMY NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. Key Responsibilities

***THIS IS A TITLE 32 NATIONAL GUARD POSITION THAT REQUIRES MILITARY MEMBERSHIP*** This position is located in the Electronics Branch of an Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF), Army Aviation Flight Activity (AAFA), or Theatre Aviation Sustainment Maintenance Group (TASMG).

Its purpose is to perform work involved in installing, troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, calibrating, aligning, and maintaining the complete electronic integrated systems on Army National Guard helicopters.

Performs operational checks, inspections, tests and troubleshooting on electronic integrated systems composed of a number of sensor subsystems: Integrated Vehicle Health Management System (IVHMS), the Common Missile Warning System (CMWS), the Improved Countermeasure Dispenser System (ICMD), the Night Vision Goggle System (NVG), the Air Data Subsystem, the Attitude Heading Reference System (AHRS) and Doppler/GPS Navigation System (DGNS), Command Instrument Set (CIS) ; a logic subsystem-- the Multiplex Data Bus System (MUX), the Multiplex Remote Terminal Units (MRTU), Data Link Terminal Units (DLTU), and Digital Automatic Flight Control System (DAFCS); and actuating subsystems--, and the Digital Automatic Stabilization System (DASS), which includes the Stability Augmentation System (SAS) and Command Augmentation System (CAS) and Hover Augmentation System (HAS).

Completes operational checks, inspections, tests and troubleshooting of Line Replaceable Units(LRU). Isolates unusual malfunctions using technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams, tools and test equipment including automatic test equipment. Completes bench check, testing, repair, inspection, modification, programming, reprogramming, mating, adjusting, alignment, and analyzing of LRUs and shop replaceable units.

Uses a variety of test equipment such as automatic test equipment (ATE), oscilloscopes, DTA computer, multi-meters, power-meters, and special purpose bench test sets. Recommends methods to improve equipment performance, technical data, and maintenance procedures by reporting hardware and software malfunctions, initiates material deficiency reports both on equipment and in technical data, and assists in design changes as necessary.

Conducts debriefing of aircrews to determine the nature of system malfunctions, then documents all maintenance performed and records information related to the system, LRU's, or shop repairable units on both aircraft and historical records. When designated on NGB Flying Status Orders, serves as member of flight crew for the purpose of diagnosing and recording malfunctions, or otherwise determining maintenance and repair requirements.

Guides lower level mechanics in the performance of duties. Conducts on-the-job training on assigned systems and related support equipment and tasks to include classroom instruction as necessary. Processes and accounts for due-in supply assets. Ensures that material and equipment are properly stored, protected and maintained and that funds are not obligated for material or parts without proper justification.

Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as Operational Readiness Evaluations (ORE), Command Logistics Readiness Inspections (CLRT-X), and Aviation Resource Management Surveys. May be required to perform additional duties such as structural firefighting, aircraft handling, heavy equipment operation, and maintenance of facilities and equipment, or serve as a member of a team to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies.
