Summary: The purpose of this position is to serve as lead early childhood education specialist for all Child and Youth Programs including child development centers, preschools, family day care, school-age, special needs programs, volunteers, hourly care programs, food service and custodial support. Serves as consultant over other unique children's programs such as Extended Duty Child Care and youth programs, to include teen programs. The Training and Curriculum Specialist (T&C) position is required by the Military Child Care Act and ensures the equality and consistency of developmental programming and age-appropriate activities within assigned program areas. In addition, the position ensures that child abuse and neglect is recognized, reported and prevented. This position has the ultimate responsibility for programs meeting National Association of Education of Young Children (NAEYC), Council on Accreditation (COA) and National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) accreditation criteria and DoD Child Development/School Age Programs Certification standards. Duties: 1. Oversees the flight training program and development of appropriate curricula for child development centers, preschools, family child care programs, school-age, and other unique children's programs. 2. Serves as lead training and curriculum specialist. Provides assistance to other training and curriculum specialists regarding assignments, projects, problems to be solved, actionable events, milestones, and/or program issues under review, deadlines and time frames for completion. 3. Performs training and curriculum specialist assignments. Assumes more difficult assignments than normally performed by lower graded staff specialists. 4. Maintains effective communications with subordinates, early childhood education professionals, co-workers, superiors and patrons. 5. Supervises the training and curriculum specialists.
