The primary purpose of this position is to work under a grade 09 or higher journey-level position to maintain, test, troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate utility systems that require intermediate level skills in various utility related trades such as electrical equipment repair, plumbing, wastewater treatment operation, and water treatment operation or journey level skills.
1)The incumbent works under closer than normal supervision at the trainee level performing assignments designed to provide the competencies, skills, and experience required to perform the more complex work at the grade 09 level. 2) The work will increase in difficulty, complexity, and responsibility to include but not limited to underground sewer and water line repairs, winter deactivations and spring activations of buildings to include minor plumbing operations, and snow removal. 3) Maintain, test, troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate utility systems that require intermediate level skill in wastewater treatment operations, and water treatment operations. 4) Duties require the incumbent to maneuver into and out of specific locations while dismantling and assembling utility related equipment. 5) The incumbent may make repairs from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms occasionally, climbing and work in high places may be required, as well as the use of hoists, holders, and pulleys when handling large equipment. Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level. You will work under closer than normal supervision at the trainee level performing assignments designed to provide the competencies, skills, and experience required to perform the more complex work at the journey level. The work increases in difficulty, complexity, and responsibility as you gain experience and demonstrate a full comprehension of the target level position. As a trainee, you must perform work under the direct supervision and oversight of a journey level position. Documentation for the Land Management Workforce Flexibility Act (LMWFA) eligibility, submission of ALL SF-50s and performance information for each period of temporary/term employment that qualifies for LMWFA. Performance documentation can be obtained by contacting the supervisors for the positions you served in during your 24 months. If they did not complete performance appraisals ask them to provide a statement of performance for each period of service. The statement must specify the dates for each employment period and your level of performance (dates should match the dates on the SF-50s).
