This vacancy is for a WG-3703-10, Welder located in the Department of Homeland (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Director of Operational Logistics, Base Boston, Naval Engineering Department Boston (NED), Industrial Production Facility South Portland (IPF) in South Portland, ME.
You will serve as a Welder and be responsible for welding work on Lighthouses, aids to navigation (AtoN), barges, boats, ships and small vessels and their associated equipment.. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
Typical work assignments include: Welding the various components of a ship including the shell, broken or cracked engine parts, framing, inner bottoms, tanks, boilers, decks, bulkheads, superstructures, masts, stacks, ventilation ducts, railings, Class I piping and similar components. Welding prefabricated subassemblies, buoys, davits, pressure vessel tanks, piping and similar items.
Planning and laying out the work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and work orders, determining the welding techniques to use and selecting the proper materials such as the right size and type of welding electrodes or rods.
This position does not have a positive education requirement.
