Key Responsibilities
As a Wildland Firefighter (Aviation) (Unit Aviation Manager) - Direct Hire Authority your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Manage the unit's aviation program, including budgets, daily operations, planning, and oversight of all aviation resources. Serve as the main liaison for agency aircraft use, ensuring compliance with Federal Aviation Administration, Department, and Bureau aviation rules.
Oversee aviation contracts as the designated contracting representative, including contractor coordination and performance evaluations. Lead the aviation safety and training program by assessing training needs, providing instruction, conducting investigations, and enforcing safety standards. Carry out supervisory responsibilities by assigning work, reviewing performance, addressing minor disciplinary issues, and fostering an inclusive work environment.
