The Accountant is responsible for the detailed and efficient operation and control of day-to-day fiscal activities at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center. The incumbent must be experienced in applying professional concepts and methodologies as well as knowledgeable in functional program characteristics and requirements.
Duties includes but is not limited to the following: Serves as a point of reference for the section in the handling of non-routine problems by providing solutions derived from direct application of established accounting principles, theories, concepts and practices. Responsible for analyzing unique accounting procedural problems that are not covered by existing procedures and developing an appropriate method of accounting to resolve the situation.
Performs account reconciliations, audits and regular reviews to ensure the integrity of the accounting data within the many complex computerized systems and associated databases. The incumbent is responsible for evaluating the validity of the accounting records and recommending and establishing necessary procedural changes to maintain proper records. Coordinates end of fiscal year activities with Chief Accountant.
