The Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA) located within the Mental Health Service (MHS) at the Charles George VA Medical Center. Mental health services are available to more than 100,000 veterans living in a 19-county area of Western North Carolina.
The AMSA works collaboratively within the MHS to provide clerical support for mental health programs and assist in the clinic operations for MHS that affect the clinical functions by assuring timely delivery of health care to Veterans.
Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provides general program support to one or more mental health programs including but not limited to Outpatient MH Clinic, Suicide Prevention, Compensated Work Therapy, Mental Health Intensive Care Management, and Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program. Assists in the clinic operations of MHS performing duties related to scheduling, rescheduling, receipt, intake and processing of Veterans.
Provides back-up support to other medical support assistants in Mental Health Services and performs other related duties as assigned. Collecting, compiling and/or tracking of data and statistical information within a specific time frame related to incumbent's assigned program to ensure compliance and regulation. Contacting appropriate transportation personnel within the facility and any outside facility to help provide transportation to meet the needs of the patient.
Identifying customer's concerns, performing the tasks required to resolve issues accurately and timely and following up as necessary to ensure a satisfactory resolution.
